How To Make AI Content Undetectable In 2024 (From 10 Tests)

In this article, I conducted 10 tests to see how to make AI Content undetectable and bypass AI detection.

What Does Making AI Content Undetectable Mean?

Making AI content undetectable refers to modifying AI-generated text to make it appear like a human rather than a machine wrote it. This is done to bypass AI content detectors designed to identify the likelihood of text being written by artificial intelligence or a real person.

The goal is to make the AI-generated content more:

• Engaging
• Authentic
• Less machine-like

… so it can pass as human-written content.

Generating a Baseline

Before we begin, it’s only logical to set up a baseline for comparison.

I generated a few paragraphs on three topics using ChatGPT 3.5 and then ran it through various AI detectors like Originality AI, Content at Scale AI Detector, and GPTzero.

This establishes a benchmark for the performance of AI content detection tools and gives me a starting point to evaluate the effectiveness of the AI bypassing strategies in subsequent steps.

Creating Raw AI-Generated Content on 3 Topics

Prompt: Write me 2 paragraphs [topic]

I got ChatGPT to generate AI content on the following topics:

• How the Future of AI Will Revolutionize Content Marketing
• Why Anime Is So Popular
• Existence of Aliens

To save you time, here are the outputs and AI test results for topic 1:

Test 1: Using Undetectable.ai

The best method to make AI content undetectable is using a relatively new tool that I found called undetectable.ai.

It functions more or less like Quillbot, but it humanizes AI text to pass detection.

All you have to do is drop the text you want to rephrase in the text field and click “Humanize.”

Ding ding ding. We have a winner!

Undetectable AI has produced near-perfect results for all topics.

It successfully bypassed all AI detection in 9/9 cases.

Test 2: Using Content at Scale

Test 2 uses the paid content generation feature by Content at Scale.

Here are some disclaimers first.

The content was created in existing article projects I already had, which were already optimized for a specific target keyword, unrelated to topics 1, 2 and 3.

I had to do this because you can’t create short-form, only long-form content in this tool. But you can create section headers by giving the AI prompts and further context.

But I wanted to test it’s ability to pass detection not contextual relevance.

Content at Scale showed clear improvement in virtually all the cases except 1.

But that’s 8/9 successful cases.

This method is great if you need long-form articles written while passing bypassing AI detectors.

Not worth it if you only need short chunks.

Use Undetectable.ai instead.

Test 3: Using StealthGPT

StealthGPT is the new guy on the block set to rival Undetectable AI.

This was the paraphrased text from topic 1 using their software.

Overall StealthGPT did a pretty good job coming in third.

They only failed to bypass in 2 tests…

But that’s a 7/9 successful cases.

Either way they are a solid alternative to Undetectable AI.

Test 4: Using Bing Chat

Bing Chat is one tool I don’t see many people using or discussing, maybe because of its accessibility.

You do need to download Microsoft Edge to use it.

This method was pretty straightforward…

I simply gave the prompt: Write me 2 paragraphs [Topic].

Then ran it through the 3 AI content detection tools.

The output of topics 1 and 2 wasn’t enough to run through GPTZero…

The results showed slight improvement in the following cases:

• Topic 3 for Content at Scale from 87% to 46%.
• Topic 3 for GPTZero from Likely to May Include Parts

That’s 2/7 successful cases.

Test 5: Using Quillbot Paraphraser

The Quillbot Paraphraser is quite a popular tool that many people use to get good results.

How true? Let’s find out.

I ran it through the standard mode of the AI tool.

For the most part, Quillbot’s paraphraser didn’t do much except in 2 cases:

• By-passing Originality AI in topic 3. (97% to 72%)
• Slight improvement in Content at Scale for topic 3. (87% to 62%)

It didn’t produce significant results to bypass AI content detection in 6/8 cases.

That’s only 2 marginally successful cases.

Test 6: Asking ChatGPT to Sound Human

In this test, all I did was ask ChatGPT to sound more human-like with extra instructions like:

• Use a conversational tone
• Add a few unorthodox sentence structures
• Make some jokes

This method was should significant improve in 2 cases.

• Topic 2 for Content at Scale from 100% to 1%
• Topic 3 for Content at Scale from 87% to 0%

That leaves us with 2/9 successful cases.

Test 7: Using ChatGPT To Rewrite

All I did here was ask ChatGPT to fix the already flagged content by simply rewriting it.

This method only showed improvement in 1/9 cases.

Test 8: Remove Commas and Use Short Sentences

Next up was trying to get ChatGPT to remove all commas and use shorter sentences.

I used the same prompt with the additional instructions.

However, AI-generated content still included some commas.

There was only improve in topic 2 with GPTZero from Likely to May Include Parts

Not fantastic…

And it didn’t even remove some commas.

That’s 1/9 successful cases.

Test 9: Using WordHero Blog Paragraph Template

In my WordHero review, I mentioned that it could beat most AI content detection tools.

But let’s see how it does for different other topics.

I used their Blog Paragraphs template to describe the topics briefly. It doesn’t accept prompts, so all I could do was enter the keyword.

Test 10: Using TheLatestN0W ChatGPT Pre-Prompt

Next up was to try a “secret” GPT pre-prompt by TheLatestN0W.

The idea is to give ChatGPT some context before giving it a prompt which may yield better results.

This was done by giving ChatGPT some information about the following two concepts:

• Perplexity: The complexity of the text
• Burstiness: The variation of sentences

Human-written content tends to have the highest of both these metrics.

So in my case, the prompt didn’t really do much to outsmart the AI content detectors.

Zero improvement in all tests.

The absolute worst.

The best way to make AI content undetectable from all my tests is to use Undetectable.ai.

You get some credits on the free plan, but they have very affordable pricing should you need more.

And they have made a very bold claim of refunding you the cost of humanization if their tool produces anything that gets flagged AI.

What Is The Best Free Way To Make AI Content Undetectable?

The best free way to make AI content undetectable is by using Bing Chat to rewrite the previous output.

It performed the best out of all the free methods listed above.

BUT it isn’t that great.

If you really want to bypass…

You might have to look at the paid options.

Why Should You Make AI Content Undetectable?

Making AI content undetectable doesn’t not automatically make it superior that others…

But it does help with a few things.

Here are some reasons why:

• Avoid penalties: Search engines like Google are can potentially penalize and demote low quality AI content. You can safeguard against this risk by using these tools.
• Maintain credibility: It helps maintain authenticity in the eyes of consumers if they believe a human rather than artificial intelligence created it.

If you just started incorporating AI writing into your content workflow…

You’re going to make a few mistakes and slip-ups.

I’ve made all of these myself…

And here they are:

• Overusing common phrases: Repeating the same words or using predictable phrases makes it robotic. AI detections tool can pick these up easily as they were probably trained on similar phrases.
• Not editing: Be there done that. Many get so obsessed about the AI content workflow and sacrifice quality for the sake of quantity. You must edit and add more value to the raw output.
• Not fine-tuning prompts: AI writers can be fine-tuned by give more detailed prompts within the chat. You are less likely to get generic AI output that gets flagged the more input and context you give.

From the above tests, AI-written texts can no doubt be edited or modified to evade detection.

But I’ll always advocate not relying solely on gimmicks or prompts to make your content undetectable as AI-generated.
